Pictures -2/18/20 Church tour in Preston England Area

February 19,2020- 5 weeks

Hello everyone
This week has gone pretty well. This week seemed to go fast. We were able to do a church history tour, and it was really fun. We first went into Preston. We walked to a church and then into the city square. We then walked to an apartment were the missionaries stay and then we went to this garden. I took some picture in the garden by a bridge.  Then we went to the Ribble River. (Pictures next to river). We then walked up the hill and to the apartment of President Gordon B. Hinkley, when he was a missionary in England.   We then traveled on the bus and drove through a bunch of little towns, that were all pretty cool. We stopped at one, and we were able to go inside a catholic church.  It was beautiful. The glass work was crazy. I felt the spirit in the church, and I know the Catholic church worshipping the same God, and like us want to be closer to him. I think a lot of their work and contributions gets looked over.

This week I had one of my best lessons yet. We went in, and just were able to talk for 10-15 minutes in German.  We did a really good job transitioning to gospel stuff from our casual conversation. The language is coming, just really slowly. I do feel I am understanding better even if cannot speak well.
The other big thing that happened this week was we had everyone leave. Right now, in the Elders side, it is only me and 3 other elders. There are only 7 sisters. We had a farewell devotional before we went to bed as a zone, and I'm really surprised how much I'll miss those guys that left.   I got to know some of them pretty well, and it’s weird to say goodbye. I think we will have another 30 or so coming in tomorrow. I’m not real excited about that, its kinda nice only having 4 of us.
I got the sweater. I've been wearing it a lot already. Its really warm, and nice – Thank you.   I haven't been taking many pictures with the camera, I have just been making other people take pictures for me. I hope the president will give me my phone back soon(President has phone because the Galaxy 10 is too new for the church block app. - hope with time they can update and add to my phone). I haven't found out anything about travel plans or anything. They will usually tell you the day before you leave. I've talked to several teachers who served in the Alpine mision, and they all said they had to fly really early in the morning and when they got to Munich they had to do street contact on the first day, so I'm a little worried about that.  I think we stay at the mission home one night before going to our areas. If we do not get to talk next week I will send an email.
Love you, talk to you next week or something.

Funny Picture in the hall of the MTC - do I look like it?

Week 4 - 2/11/20

Hi Everyone
This week has been ok. Nothing new or exciting has really happened. We were able to go into Manchester again. It was pretty fun. Me and Elder Moughan didn't have much success, but it was fun to get out for a second. Something crazy that happened was there was a stabbing right were we were. When we first got to the city center there was a couple of areas roped off, with police standing around. I don't know how many people were hurt, but I heard three people got stabbed. The area is called Piccadilly Garden square. This last week I've been feeling pretty inadequate. As we are going farther in the German lessons, I feel like I'm just getting farther behind. I did have a really good door approach and lesson last night I had to do in German, so that was good.  We went in with not much of a plan, we thought it would be just a door approach, and it ended up going really well. We had to scramble a little bit, but it was good. I haven't received my travel plans yet for when I fly to Germany, but I'll be traveling with elder Gallacher and Cockerill who are roommates and sister Martin. My companion goes to the Berlin Germany mission.  You asked about how I was sleeping and how the food was.  The food is not that great and it is all starting to taste the same.   I sometimes do not sleep all that well, thinking about German studies I think, but I'm ok. I've got all the amazon stuff so far, the root beer and SD card, and the letters. Thank you.

See ya later

March 4, 2020 - 3 Weeks

Hey everyone
It's been another good week. This week we had another group of missionaries come in. They are all pretty cool. I definitely miss the last group though. In the old group we only had 4 Americans, but now the majority of elders are American. It's a different feel now. I'm not really sure if it's a good or bad change yet. We've still been playing a lot of football,(soccer)but it's not nearly as fun, the skill level is definitely a lot lower. This week the German has been going well. It's not coming as fast as I thought it would, but it's still coming. They're expecting alot from us, and recently, we have had alot less study time. My companion speaks more German than I so he is good to help me. This last week my companion was sometimes annoying , but I think this is just part of having a companion. Another thing that happened was MTC President Ostler came up with a bunch of new rules for socializing. Really like the president and enjoyed talking with him. This week we started doing a snack after class in the cafeteria. I guess it was getting to loud and going on to long. We now only have ten minutes for the snack time. He also made a rule that elders and sisters can't sit together at the cafeteria table during breakfast lunch dinner, or snacks. I guess rules are good but right now not sure I agree.
We went to the temple today and into town again, so it's been a good day.
Looking forward to this next week.
Love you
