June 23- Week 23
Week 23
Dear family and friend
It has been a good week. The best part happened on Monday we went to Stuttgart for zone conference. It was really fun to see everyone we usually meet together with three counties but this time just the city of Stuttgart so a little smaller group. It was really hard to say goodbye to President and Sister Brown this is our last time seeing them before they return home. Our new president is not coming for a few months because they cannot travel across German border so we have a substitute president who lives in Munich.
The next really great thing is that we were given a car we will share it with the sisters that live in our apartment. I got to drive to zone conference. We had a little bit of confusion with the keys and had to go back-and-forth on the train a couple times to get keys all sorted out, but that was ok.
We have been teaching this Chinese man named Numied Tui and the lessons have gone well. I went on splits with Elder Swite and Gleason they were real cool we went to a member appointment and I struggled a little to understand and respond. After lesson we went exploring as we walked back to their apartment and climbed up this crazy staircase to a tower on the top of a hill, it was close to 50 flights of stairs. Their apartment is a little bigger and nicer it was fun to hang out with them. We joined a ward council with their ward by FaceTime. The main reason I went was to have them introduce me but they didn’t even do that and we just sat there for an hour- oh well. I am a bit nervous because President Brown said most likely I would stay in this area and Elder Robertson and Brown would leave. I would be in charge of this area as senior companion.
We have a member that we go to each week and read the book of Mormon I think that he is mentally ill because he calls us often but this was the first time I’ve seen him in person.
We had a service project where we went to the bishops house helped him remove an old playhouse or shed thing and cut out a tree including the stump. It started to rain really hard so we had to wait out the storm but then we finished cutting it out in the mud so our shoes got pretty dirty. They fed us and as we were heading home we missed our bus. There wasn’t another one coming for over an hour so we decided to walk it took us an hour to get home but all was good
For P-day we got haircuts and then drove to a members house I got to drive that was fun we went to a castle close to members house and that was cool we ate lunch with them.
That’s about it
See ya
Love you

June 17, 2020 Week 22
This last week has been eventful. I had fun spending the last few days with Elder Strömsdörfer in Wieblingen. We were both transferred and our apartment has been temporary close down. I’m going to Tubingen Germany south of Stuttgart. Two days before we moved we had fun going to an American ninja warrior gym with some members. We had a good time even though I felt out of shape. We got to spend a little bit of time with the elders in Stuttgart Elder Morton and Barf. Their apartment is really nice everything is new. They helped cut elder Stormsdorfer hair. I was mad we ran out of time and didn’t cut my hair. I’m not very excited about this halfway transfer I was really looking forward to staying with Elder Strömsdörfer for 2 more weeks and maybe another transfer. I’m a bit nervous because I will be with former AP Robertson and another Elder Brown and they have been together for a while so I’m worried I will be the odd man out. Don’t like Drits or trio. They have been on their mission a long time so I guess I should try to learn from them but I’ve been really liking serving here because I’ve had to really participate and take part in lessons and not just sit back and listen. Elder Strömsdörfer is going to Austria so a bit jealous.
We spent some time with Elder Coan and Lott. We walk to the Bahnhof or train yard and met them. We spent some time studying with them including talking about how to use Facebook. Then fixed dinner at our apartment and fed them. I was really happy when we did a member lesson, I was able to understand almost everything. I really do feel the gift of tongues at work because I haven’t been talking to anyone in German and haven’t been studying superhard but I think things are coming. I am very grateful.
Today we got up early packed all of our stuff and it was difficult walking to the bahnhof with all of our luggage but luckily a train pulled up right in front of our platform. We had a little bit of problem with our tickets. The lady wanted to see our ID we finally got things figured out. it was only a 20 minute train ride and the sister missionaries were there when we arrived and they helped with our bags. I said goodbye to Elder Strömsdörfer and he left on a different train. Walk to the church we met up with some other elders. We changed our clothes and played some basketball which was fun. We then took a bus to our apartment in Tubingen and unpacked. The apartment is pretty nice not tons of room but the town looks beautiful.
Love you have good week
See ya Elder Brown
Last Days in Wieblingen and off to Tublingen

June 9, 2020
It’s been an ok week. Last Tuesday was pretty fun. For P-day we went to the church in Stuttgart and played basketball and ate with 7 other elders and 4 sisters. We had bought a big tub of ice cream and didn’t want to take it home so we ate until it was gone, it was a party! We have done some work on Facebook, random scripture study, which has been good and we’ve been going for walks around the fields that are by our apartment (pictures)
Last week we had an exchange with the AP and it was a little scary but it was pretty chill. We did some studying with them and went for a walk I felt bad I got the AP elder a little dirty walking along dirt road. The APs were really nice I felt bad because they asked how they could improve on anything and I couldn’t think of anything to say except for maybe improve on their English, they’re both German natives. Hope I didn’t offend them. They stayed overnight in our apartment and we got up early and went for a run I was sure tired I guess I’m out of shape.
We went to the church and did a member appointment. The lesson was really cool and went really well it was all in German and I understood everything. We had another member appointment and I was able to say everything I needed to even shared a personal story in German it was fun to even correct elder Stormsdorfer on his German a wee bit, it was fun!
Sorry to hear about protests and riots in the US as we were getting off the train we saw someone spray painting “black lives matter” on the wall in English. We’ve had a few protest in Stuttgart. We had a perspective investigator or friend as we call them who wanted a book of Mormon so we got on a bus and then walked a couple of miles to their place and she was not there so we left a
Book of Mormon in her mailbox I hope she got it. It’s been nice to be close to the church and we spend time there hanging out as well as playing ball. Weather has been rainy and not too hot.
Hope you have a good week

Waiblingen Germany - June 8, 2020

Hi Everyone
So last week I got transferred to Waiblingen Germany a small town outside Stuttgart, north of Munich. I am scared for my German. I really like Elder Stromsofer my new companion, he is cool, but his German is not much better than mine. Most days are pretty boring. We get up and study and try to go for a run. It is hard to come up with a schedule and make up what you are doing all day. We are doing some facebook. A few days ago we did have a member appointment that was fun. We took the train to meet the mother of the family and she walked us back to her home. We were teaching her husband. I gave the thought and it ended up going ok even though the husband got angry that he could not find the talk on LDS.org. We had a good meal and they sent us home with chocolate and oranges. We have hung out with the Elders in Stuttgart and last p-day we went to the Porsche museum. It was sick! So many cool cars. I like my apartment it is nicer than the one in Munich. We had a clogged sink and we found some chemicals, like Drano and then used a plunger, I think we fixed it. I have been sleeping better but I had a really weird dream and felt like someone was sitting on my bed – freaked me out. We went to a district meeting today and meet at the church, we then went to a Sandwich shop and it was closed so went to five guys for a burger. I had someone tell me I had a hair cut like Donald Trump. We went to the other elders apartment and I stole one of their broken lamps and fixed and brought it back to use on my desk. We walked around the city of Stuttgart and saw some cool churches and castle. We saw some turtles, fish and a swan in this pond that was like lime green. We sat in the park and there where some kids there that were kind of staring us down. I said “servus” and they smiled and said Hi so we had a short conversation as we walked past.
Hope you have a good week and pray we can start doing some face to face teaching or contacting soon.
Elder Carson
