Letter July 22,20 -27 weeks

Hello everybody, this week was ok I guess. It seemed realy long. We had zone conference on our p day on Tuesday. Meet our new temporary Mission President.  It was a little hard because he spoke the whole time in German and I could not understand all of it.   So our p day was on Monday. It was nice because I was able to send some email to Chandler and Gavin and chat back and forth because our p days lined up. This week I hit both my six month mark, and I had my birthday. Life's still pretty boring and unproductive. We're still teaching our Chinese investigator and we still do stuff with our special friends. Nothing realy new. We can wear blue shirts with no ties now. I havent realy taken advantage of that yet. I want to go get a bunch of short sleeved blue shirts.
Well I'm doing ok I guess. See you all on the D.L.(down low)

July 14,2020 26 Weeks (6 months)

Hi everyone

It has been a good week but a little bit boring. Last Wednesday was transfers. I helped pack up Elder Brown and Robertson and got them to the train, and helped with all their bags. We also helped one of  the sister missionaries who was transferring. We met up with the zone leaders and then had to wait for several hours for my companion to arrive. So we went into Stuttgart and got some lunch. Elder Colman my companion arrive by about 1:30. I miss Elder Robertson and his assertiveness and ability to talk to the ward members. It is nice that we get to go to church and see a few people and partake of the sacrament. We went and had dinner with the bishop and his family that was good. We have just had a really slow week of teaching. I look forward to zone conference and hope we can get new instruction on how to contact more people. It’s kind of weird Elder Colman has been assigned to work with some Persian speaking people and is learned Persian. So he is spending time doing that. I try to stay busy with studying. Trying to do some Facebook but I don’t particularly like it. We did get to attend a baptism with a family baptizing their eight-year-old and they had us speak.  I think it went OK.  I was pretty scared that’s only my second time giving a talk in German. I did go and get a haircut this week. I’m doing well just struggling a little bit to get used to new companion I have been in a Drit or threesome  for most of my mission, other than when I was with my trainer Elder Porter and Elder Stormsdorfer who I really liked.  I hit my six month mark this week. Yay! Have a good week see ya

Happy Independence Day - Back to Church in Tubingen Germany

Got my birthday package

July 8, 2020 - Week 25

It’s been a good week and we have stayed pretty busy.  A couple of fun things happen this week. We got to go to church and the missionaries blessed and passed the sacrament. It was good to see and talk to church members. We went home with one of the members and they fed us really good food. We are teaching a few investigators one who is dating a member, a members son who is re-investigating the church and another who is from China. We were able to take a member with us for our lesson that speaks Chinese and it was really good to have him help us teach the lesson. We also are meeting with a new convert and he has a strong testimony even though he doesn’t know much about the gospel. We are going to continue to give him lessons. I got a package and I opened my early birthday present - a new watch. I am happy to say I finished the Book of Mormon. I started reading BofM again as I entered the mission field. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by. We have transfers later this week. I will be staying in Tübingen and will have a new companion Elder Coleman he is from Idaho Falls. Elder Robinson is going to Austria and Elder Brown will be serving in Switzerland. I’m excited to stay in Tübingen and really like this city and the members here, but I’m a little nervous to be by myself as the only one that knows the area. Our sisters are being transferred out too. I really liked  them and they help us Elders. They have been here a long time and know the town and the members well. I was hoping one of the sisters would stay. We are trying to do a lot on Facebook I am not too excited about it I’m not sure how productive it is but I’m trying to get a better attitude. I listen to patriotic music from the hymnbook for my Fourth of July activity. When I was listening I began to cry. I miss my country. America is great. I really liked the words from “My Country ‘Tis of thee”. I read from 2 Nephi 1:7 that is a reference for this hymnal- about living worthy of our country and being righteous and that we will be blessed. I feel so blessed to live in America. I liked the words “ Long may our land be bright with freedoms holy light, protect us by Thy might , God our King.” I am looking forward to the day I can return to America and to my family. I miss you. Have a good week.

P-Day June 30 Castle and Cave

June 30 - P day

June 30 - Week 24

It’s been a good week. Today was really fun for our P day we went with the elders from Esslinsen to Ritter sport which is a chocolate factory- there’s a museum but we found that it was closed so we just bought lots of chocolate at the chocolate store. Then Elder Brown took us on a trail that was a little sketchy but after 30 minutes we got to this really cool old castle. We also hiked to this waterfall that was really fun then climbed up into a cave. This week we’ve been able to teach a few lessons as well as we’ve had several member appointments where we’ve gone into members homes and had dinner. I really like the Rodes family they are members and they are American. One sister gave us a lot of food and kind of forced us to eat everything - we were sick. I am definitely going to have to go on a diet. One our lessons this week was kind of weird we went and taught this guy we met on the street it was a strange experience. When we first got there we couldn’t find him he was on the balcony and started yelling he came down but was not wearing anything but his underwear. He then got dressed and left and we stayed and talk to his friend then he came back from the store with some bread and apple juice. I think he wanted to feed us something.  When we gave him a book of Mormon and started to explain things about the scriptures things kind of went sour. He started to argue with us and I definitely could tell the spirit was not there as Elder Brown and Robertson tried to calm him down. I felt really bad because he seem like a nice guy. Finally we just said we needed to leave and he didn’t want us to go but he just wanted to argue that there was nothing else besides the Bible. Hopefully we could meet with him again and things will go better. We are still teaching Alex an investigator from China I really like him. We also are teaching an investigator that we all knew in Munich we just talk to them on the phone. Next week is transfers and we will find out on Saturday if we are being moved. I’m not sure how I feel I’ve like my two companions and I’ve enjoyed being here in Tubingen. Hope everyone’s well at home love you. Love Elder Carson
